Your journey deserves more than a camera roll
Remember every place, every moment, effortlessly.
Retrace turns your photos into a living travel diary — GPS-tagged, AI-organized, and beautiful enough to print.

Sound familiar?
You took 5,000 photos.
You remember maybe 50.
That restaurant in Lisbon with the incredible octopus? Gone. The street art in Bangkok you swore you would find again? Buried in a camera roll you will never scroll through.
Travel memories fade faster than you think. And no amount of Google Photos albums or Instagram highlights can piece together what it actually felt like to be there.
Retrace fixes this. Not by asking you to journal every day, but by using the data your photos already have — GPS, timestamps, landmarks — to rebuild your story automatically.

How it works
How Retrace Works
Your Trip Builds Itself
Import your photos and Retrace reads their GPS data and timestamps to reconstruct your entire journey — day by day, place by place. Even trips from years ago.
Trip Detective reconstructs trips from old photos automatically.

AI Knows That Castle’s Name
Point your camera at a landmark, and Retrace identifies it. Search "that blue church in Santorini" and actually find it. AI auto-tags every photo so nothing gets lost.

Frequently asked questions
Built by travelers, for travelers who actually want to remember.
I spent 14 months on the road and had 12,000 photos with no organization. Retrace rebuilt every trip automatically. The AI knew the name of a tiny church in Porto I had completely forgotten.
Sarah Chen
Digital Nomad, 14 months traveling
We did three weeks in Japan and took over 2,000 photos. Retrace knew which ramen shop was in Kyoto vs Osaka. We printed a hardcover book and it sits on our coffee table now.

Living in Barcelona means every weekend is a new adventure. Base Camp mode keeps my daily explorations organized without creating a new trip each time. It just works.

Why we built Retrace
We left everything to see the world.
Then we started forgetting it.
On April 1st, 2025, we walked away from everything familiar. We said goodbye to our two kids in Colorado — our 19-year-old and our 23-year-old — hugged them harder than we probably should have, and boarded a one-way flight to Italy.
No return date. No permanent address. Just a plan to slow travel the world until we found the place — or places — where we wanted to spend the rest of our days.
We started in Puglia, the sun-drenched boot heel of southern Italy. A month in Nardò. A month in Lecce. We chased the coastline north to Matera — a city carved into cliffs that made us both go quiet the moment we saw it. Then Valencia. Edinburgh in the rain. A château vineyard outside Bordeaux where we woke up to fog rolling through the vines. Paris, twice, because once wasn’t enough. The medieval streets of Sarlat. Beynac perched above the Dordogne. Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Milan. The Cotswolds. The mountains of Wales. High-speed trains between cities we couldn’t pronounce.
Six countries. Thousands of kilometers. Over 5,000 photos.
And somewhere around month four, we realized we couldn’t remember the name of that restaurant in Lecce. The one on the corner, with the incredible burrata. We scrolled through hundreds of photos trying to find it. We couldn’t.
That’s when Retrace started — not as a business idea, but as a problem we needed to solve for ourselves. A way to hold onto the places that mattered before they blurred into the next thousand photos.
Our kids are still in Colorado, finishing college and building their own lives. The distance is hard. But they wanted this for us — and honestly, we think they want it for themselves someday too. When they’re ready, we’ll help bring them along. Until then, we’re building something that makes sure no one forgets the journey they’re on.
That’s Retrace. Born on the road. Built from experience. Made for travelers who actually want to remember.
